Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician has been charged with carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
