Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
