Previous BBC Advisers Participate in Parliamentary Questioning Following Claims of Partiality in Disclosed Document
We open with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament the committee chair, that chairs the panel.
She commences by providing background to the disclosed memorandum authored by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.
"It is not my wish for the BBC tilting this way or that way, My only wish is for it balanced, fair and just," he says.
When asked whether he believes the BBC is structurally prejudiced, Prescott answers: "No I don't. To be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is world class - encompassing factual and fictional shows."
But he adds: "There exists real work that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another ex-adviser British Broadcasting Corporation adviser questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it maintains a "persistent practice and lively discussion" on fluid and multifaceted issues.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to engage in a genuine discussion and argument and act accordingly?" she asks herself. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
